Pay Rate: $25.00 / hour


We have partnered with a manufacturing company in the Auburn, WA area to provide them with an Estimating Apprentice. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.


Prioritized Must Have Skills For The Estimating Apprentice


#1. Read drawings (blueprints) and understands parts lists and experience working on the floor in an aerospace manufacturing environment


#2. 2 year degree and superior computing and mathematical skills as well as proficiency or familiarity with a CRM business system


#3. Develop detailed cost estimates for integrated aerospace offerings to support Requests for Quote (RFQ)


#4. No more than 3 jobs in the past 10 years


Responsibilities Of The Estimating Apprentice


Under supervision of Estimating Team receive training to provide accurate, analytical driven estimates to customers in response to inquiries regarding new and recurring manufacturing orders and customer purchase orders.


  • Commence training to develop detailed cost estimates for integrated aerospace offerings to support Requests for Quote (RFQ) and other customer requirements.
  • Ability to learn and understand aerospace manufacturing techniques.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers and respond to customer inquiries and support as required.
  • Conduct Make/Buy analysis and make recommendations, as required.
  • Ability to learn, comprehend and work with large complex design models including but not limited to drafting/blueprint reading and geometric, design & tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to learn and understand manufacturing tool types and usages.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various aerospace OEM Process Specifications.
  • Responsible for conforming to the company's quality system procedures as documented.
  • Train to distinguish and understand various types of materials used in manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate understanding of direct and indirect influences on product costs.
  • Investigate, interpret, and make recommendations related to OEM specifications and requirements to assist company's bidding and costing approach.
  • Assist with training and provide back-up support for the Estimating Administrator.
  • Understanding aspects of business finances including but not limited to margins and mark-ups.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of assembly processes related to aerospace products, other applicable aerospace qualifications, knowledge or experience.


Requirements For The Estimating Apprentice


  • Sense of Urgency.
  • Superior computing and mathematical skills (MS, Excel, ERP, other estimating software).
  • Proficiency or familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) business systems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • 2-year degree in engineering and/or operations management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3-5 years experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment or other related combination of education and experience required.
  • Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to problems.


Other Key Requirements


  • 100% onsite, in-office role.
  • No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
