Job Description
Reports To: Director of Central Scheduling


Status: 40 hours per two week pay period


Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm


Job Schedule: Part-Time ~ Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday


Weekly Hours: 20 hours

Statement Of Purpose


Provides receptionist services for the Emergency Department, which includes emergency room and outpatient treatment area. Interviews the patient/guardian to accurately obtain and appropriately record the information necessary to complete the admitting process. Organizes clerical and support activities on unit communicating messages accurately and timely. Transfers calls, relays messages. Transcribes orders accurately and timely maintaining an efficient work environment. Assists nurses, PAs and physicians with patient care and transfers within the hospital and to other facilities. Assures completion of medical record, assembles, copies and distributes medical record to appropriate departments.

Requirements


  • Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians, and other persons with whom contact is part of work activities.
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • Cross training is required.
  • Computer software knowledge preferred.
  • Broad background or training in medical office procedures and standards; organizational skills.
  • CPR required.


Working Conditions


  • Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing and moderate lifting (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly) of clients and equipment.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change) and to atmospheric conditions (one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).
