Position Title: Epidemiologist I

Salary: $63,000 - $69,000 plus benefits


Overview:


The CDC Foundation is seeking an Epidemiologist to plan, develop, and conduct epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implement methods of disease control. Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares epidemiologic reports.


Qualifications:


  • Proficient knowledge of epidemiological principles and statistical analysis methods
  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Public Health, or related field
  • Proficient knowledge of survey design, administration, and evaluation
  • No supervisory responsibilities
  • Basic understanding of systems and procedures necessary for surveillance and investigation of infectious and chronic diseases
  • Proficient knowledge of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques of administering public health programs
  • Proficient understanding of database software (MS Access) and statistical analysis software (R, SAS, SPSS, GIS)
  • Experience assisting in the design, conduct, and evaluation of epidemiologic studies and field investigations


Responsibilities:


  • Monitors and evaluates data collection procedures to ensure that quality control measures are sustained
  • Presents quality data sets and reports findings by using visual tools i.e. graphs, charts, and maps
  • Performs statistical analyses of data sets using analytic tools e.g. SAS, SPSS, etc
  • Use of database and track systems to manage data collection, data entry, and analysis of surveillance programs
  • Development of questionnaires or data collection tools to facilitate a standardized collection of data reports
  • Performs data activities dealing with the collection and analysis of surveillance activities, epidemiology, and survey data
  • Drafting of statistical reports
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data sets and reports

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Illinois Department of Public Health, in order to best support the State of Illinois in their public health programming.


This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
