Job Description
Eastern Research Group is searching for highly motivated field technicians to support our ongoing fabrication and measurements work. Our measurements group includes a wide range of measurement services including ambient air monitoring, continuous emissions monitoring systems and advanced next generation emissions monitoring services. As a part of our team, this position will execute and manage monitoring projects, methods research, and other air related sampling and monitoring events. The individual will be required to engineer, design, build, test, and utilize equipment for air sampling and monitoring. This position will require travel to field locations for air quality measurements with travel expected to be between 25%-50%. Mechanical and fabrication skills are essential to this role.


Specific Duties Include


  • Maintain valid DOT driver status to facilitate mobilization of equipment to job sites.
  • Transport field equipment to field sites, install instrumentation at field sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and equipment inventory.
  • Successfully complete all required annual safety training
  • Work under the supervision of Project Managers and Field Team Leaders to set up equipment and collect air quality data.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain air quality measurement instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed.
  • Support equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance .


Desired Qualifications


  • Proficient in instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, and operation.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certification.
  • Ability to work in outdoor field settings.
  • Ability & willingness to travel 25-50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred but replaceable by experience hauling trailers across long distances.
  • Knowledge of EPA source test methods/procedures, air quality or emission monitors, etc. preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred (especially science, engineering or related ?eld).
  • High school diploma, basic math, science, and mechanical skills.
  • Experience in mechanical, laboratory, ?eld science, etc. preferred.
  • Aptitude and interest in science, technical work, mechanical equipment, and air quality.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
