Job Description

:

Responsible for the operation, leadership and management of assigned environmental service business. Utilizes critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to ensure departmental focus and vision is aligned with the hospital and Intermountain business plans.

Job Essentials

  • Functions as the communication link between senior management and front line staff.
  • Manages and mentors EVS supervisors and provides professional development opportunities.
  • Effectively uses professional and organizational best practices to ensure the delivery of quality services.
  • Responsible for Environmental Services performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, and other EVS specific accrediting and certifying bodies.
  • Evaluates EVS staff competency through use of performance reviews and possibly peer reviews.
  • Responsible for EVS recruitment, retention, training and employee engagement.
  • Executes leadership rounding plan.
  • Facilitates collaborative problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines.
  • Provides leadership to achieve appropriate bed turnaround times to support patient progression initiatives.
  • Responsible for creating an effective department culture which promotes an engaged workforce.
  • Develops, implements and manages annual capital / operating and personnel (FTE) budget for Environmental Services. Ensures competent and sufficient number of staff to meet services needs. Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of leadership experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and document effectively and appropriately.
  • Associate's degree obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Demonstrated skills in human resource management.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA and other federal and state regulations
  • Joint Commission experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Healthcare housekeeping experience
