Overview:
Tyler Union in Anniston, AL is seeking an Environmental Engineer. Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc. has a century of success in manufacturing and selling ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes for the waterworks industry. Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Assists in the development of a compliance strategy(s) to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Assesses the environmental risk of activities and advises team members of environmental impact.
  • Wears appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
  • Looks for opportunities to get employees involved in environmental process changes and overall improvement efforts.
  • Familiar with Method 9 visible emission observations.
  • Knowledge of RCRA and DOT Rules.
  • Assist in the operation of an effective environmental management system.
  • Prepares reports such as environmental monitoring reports and shipping reports for review and submission to regulatory agency.
  • Develops and implements sampling and monitoring plans, which may include installing, operating, and maintaining equipment.
  • Able to calculate potential-to-emit calculations for air permit applications/modifications
  • 1st Responsibility – Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Able to calculate material composition calculations for EPCRA reporting.
  • Knowledge of storm water sampling protocol in accordance with EPA standards.
  • Runs environmental project activities including operation and maintenance of air pollution control equipment, stormwater monitoring equipment, process water, feasibility studies, and other plans.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
  • Prepares technical documentation for management's use when dealing with regulatory agencies and other internal/external needs.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Works with plant supervisors to direct hourly employees in completing environmental-related job duties properly.

Education and/or Experience

  • Ability to maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid computer experience including proficiency with Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in environmental management in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving mathematical skills to find the right solutions to environmental issues.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety standards and regulations.
