Job Description
The Henrico Education Foundation is excited to provide afterschool enrichment to elementary-age children attending select Henrico County schools through the 21st Century Grant award from the Virginia Department of Education and Learning & Discovery programs. Serving participants in our Community Learning Centers and Learning & Discovery Programs, our after-school program focuses on engaging and empowering children through activities that support their academic, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. Our after-school teachers are responsible for designing lesson plans for a group of children, planning and implementing a variety of activities while developing positive, nurturing relationships.


We are seeking Enrichment Instructors for our programs that specialize in areas such as: Art, Drama, Foreign Language, Dance, Music, STEM, Robotics, Coding, Chess, Rubix Cube, Sports Clinics, etc.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develops appropriate relationships with children and families to better understand and meet
  • Engages all assigned children, ensuring a high level of participation in activities.

  • Ensures the safety of children in assigned group.
  • Designs and delivers program lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting


the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.


  • Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains transparent, on-going communication with supervisor.
  • Communicates regularly with parents; attends school events as designated by supervisor.
  • Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
  • Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior, and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth.
  • Adheres to the Community Learning Center policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provides active and attentive supervision, staying alert at all times.
  • Maintains accurate classroom records as assigned and according to program requirements.


Requirements


Qualifications


  • Experience preferred in delivering programs in one or more of the following areas: songs/music, arts/crafts, science, math, literacy, drama, physical education, language, chess.
  • Meet the requirements of Program Leader as detailed in the Virginia Regulations for Licensed Child Day Centers.
  • At least 18 years of age with reliable transportation and a history of dependability.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
