Amaterra Winery is the first estate production winery inside of Portland city limits. Located just minutes from downtown Portland, Amaterra is perched high in the tree-filled slopes of the city’s West Hills. We are creating a new wine experience unlike any other!


As the Enologist, you will execute wine tracking, analysis, packaging, ordering, and cellar activities and duties to support making world-class wines at Amaterra Winery. This role is focused on the laboratory and assisting winemakers, secondary function is to work in a cellar based on the production plan.


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:


  • Experience working in vineyard operations preferred
  • We are looking for full-time and seasonal Vineyard and Winery Associates to do
  • Have experience working in wine production/cellar work
  • Hold a degree in wine production, life sciences, or related is preferred.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Be an integral part of the Amaterra winemaking team and contribute to making world-class wines.
  • Model the company Values in decision-making and in interactions with team members, residents, and guests.
  • Cleaning is a primary function of this role and the winemaking process in general. This will include equipment, facilities (floors/walls), and barrels. These conditions are sometimes extended hours, wet and/or cold environment.
  • Sample, facilitate, and participate in production tastings for wine quality, analysis, and treatments.
  • Support Winemaker with tracking the status of technical wine sheets, tasting notes, etc.
  • Configuration, set up, and execution of laboratory analysis.
  • Follow all safety protocols in executing tasks. Act as safety lead for laboratory areas on the safety committee.
  • Facilitate DTC wine sales transactions and deliveries as needed. Give tours of the winery as delegated by the event department and/or GM.
  • Champion 5S organizational process, specific responsibilities in chemistry and sensory laboratories, and packaging storage areas.
