English Teacher (1St Semester)

Essex Westford School District is seeking candidates to teach full-time for the 1st semester of the 2023-2024 school year in the English department at Essex High School. Additionally, there may be an opportunity for part-time teaching in the 2nd semester.Candidates who apply before May 12 shall be given first consideration for the position.EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Candidates with experience working in another country and the ability to speak more than one language fluently, peace corps. experience, and/or worldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• Differentiates instruction to ensure that each student is learning at their proximal zone of development.
• Ability to implement a focus on literacy across the content areas
• Expertise in incorporating technology into the classroom.
• Strong organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills.
• Understands the importance of social-emotional learning to the success of our students and can adjust instructional approaches as needed.
• Dedication to providing students with a safe and respectful learning environment.
• Commitment to proficiency-based assessment and learning.
• Commitment to the success of all students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
• Provides quality formative assessment feedback to students and can adjust instruction based on assessment results.
• Uses standards-based learning practices with a collaborative (PLC) group and can give academic intervention for students who need additional help.
• Holds or is eligible to hold a valid VT Educator license with an applicable English endorsement.
