What To Expect
Jobsite Location: Yucca, AZ
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our vehicle-level development and certification test activities with majority focus on brake systems and data acquisition. This Engineering Technician will help drive Tesla’s worldwide rollout of new vehicles by applying acquired knowledge of Tesla vehicle systems and diagnostics to configure and instrument test vehicles in preparation for, and during, development and certification tests, as well as executing performance validation. The role requires someone highly organized and confident in their ability to manage projects along a very fluid schedule.
This full-time role requires the flexibility of traveling (up to 75%) to various domestic and international destinations, when necessary, to test vehicles predominantly at test tracks and in test labs.

What You’ll Do
- Use measurement equipment to record results, ensure equipment is calibrated
- Design and build new instrumentation or test equipment as needed.
- Mentor less-experienced technicians and operators to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Prepare prototype and production vehicles for brake, certification and performance tests for multiple global markets, including instrumentation installation, parts sourcing and changes, mileage accumulation, alignments, firmware updates and vehicle diagnostics.
- Perform vehicle tests according to stringent guidelines and procedures at test tracks
- Perform initial analysis of test data
- Diagnose any vehicle or equipment issues that arise during testing
- Support vehicle development and innovation projects on demand
- Coordinate vehicle and equipment logistics.
- Document results of testing and communicate issues found to developer teams
- Work with internal and external test labs and proving grounds to direct testing activities
- Excellent attention to detail, and prior experience documenting issues or builds is preferred.
- Some fabrication skills preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics
- Excellent vehicle driving record
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent at reviewing data for validity and communicating findings.
- Extensive, documented test driver history or comparable performance driving experience
- 2 year technical/automotive degree preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of suspension, brakes and stability control systems
- Ability to multi-task and must thrive on delivering results in an extremely fast-paced environment.
- 5 years or more experience as an Engineering Technician or related role.
