What you’ll be able to do:
We’re seeking an action-oriented, data-driven, engineering professional with the unique skills and personality to significantly influence the quality of the Ford product build on a daily basis. This role involves interacting with people at all levels and divisions of Ford Motor Company. You will:
  • Ensure compliance to Plant and Corporate control plan standards
  • Serve as liaison/SME between body and final on assembly issues related to body/part interfaces
  • Utilize statistical tools to assess and solve problems dimensional, assembly, and fit and finish issues
  • Direct/supervise hourly skilled trades to perform dimensional measurements of machine/equipment locating features and make necessary corrections
  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management as necessary (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers’ reviews)
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity in the body shop
  • Lead variability reduction for body fit and finish
  • Support all aspects of Body Dimensional Control Engineering activity
  • Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes
  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) as dimensional SME
  • Ability to work any shift, as well as rotating shifts and weekends.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve standardized processes and control plans
  • Direct/supervise hourly skilled trades to perform dimensional measurements of body, stamping and supplier parts to determine cause of quality and/or productivity issues

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical degree OR Four years of technical manufacturing engineering.

Our preferred requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience in automated and manual inspection systems
  • Experience with automotive body construction/assembly preferred
  • Experience capability in data analysis and documentation and statistical methods
  • Working knowledge of CMM's, SPC, CAD, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience capability in problem solving methods
  • Experience capability in assembly dimensional control.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
