Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
Job Responsibilities
The Software Engineer position will be remote with occasional onsite meetings at Fairfax, VA. The candidate will design, develop, document, test and debug applications software. The candidate will conduct software research and collaborate with team members to plan, design, development, and test software. The candidate will determine user needs, analyze system capabilities to resolve problems, and ensure software standards are met. The candidate will be a self-starter, team-player, and work under general supervision. The candidate will be expected to complete the tasks in a fast-paced results driven environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with Java software development.
  • Experience in basic database queries and PL/SQL programming.
  • Level 1; 0 years' experience with bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • US citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Level 2; 2 years' experience with bachelor's degree in computer science.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with IDE (Eclipse, etc.)
  • Experience with JIRA, Jenkins, Git, etc and/or other DevOps Toolsets
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Service (AWS)
  • Knowledge of Oracle database
  • Experience with front-end user interface design and development
  • Experience working with application server (Tomcat etc.)
  • Experience working in an agile or iterative development environment.
This position reports to Unknown City, VA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Fairfax, VA, VA, USA.
Salary Range: $63,800 USD - $95,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
