Energy Systems Cost Estimator

The Opportunity:
What if you could use your cost estimating skills to help build the roadmap to higher energy and climate resilience for the Department of Defense? As a cost estimator focusing on utility-scale energy construction projects, you understand the complexity that is involved with developing and appraising technical energy solutions. That knowledge is key when it comes to effectively executing projects that both cost-effectively provide mission resilience and shift the DoD off of fossil fuels and toward carbon pollution-free electricity. We’re looking for a skilled cost estimator who has experience analyzing construction requirements for preliminary, critical, and final design reviews and who can provide clear and accurate costing recommendations to improve construction plans and project outcomes.

Our team supports the Department of Defense in its efforts to provide mission readiness through energy resilience. The team you'll join specializes in identifying energy resilience gaps, then proposing and developing energy projects that meet mission requirements to fill those gaps. That’s why we need you, a cost estimator with a strong background in electrical, mechanical and water infrastructure to help us provide cost-effective recommendations on how to make energy systems more resilient, and eventually change the way the Department of Defense makes energy decisions. You will be working with military installations to determine costs related to all aspects of energy systems, including electrical, mechanical, water, fuel, and communications, to assure that critical systems meet their respective requirements. You’ll also directly impact the energy sector by evaluating the benefits of utilizing renewable energy over traditional generation types. This is a chance to use your problem-solving skills while gaining experience in Defense and installation energy. Join us and take on exciting challenges in the Department of Defense as we transform the definition of resilience.

Join us. The world can't wait.

  • Ability to conduct market research, summarize results, and make appropriate costing recommendations

  • Experience with energy transmission, distribution, microgrid, and generation component systems and construction processes, including the civil and environmental requirements
  • Experience in developing large-scale construction cost estimates
  • Knowledge of MILCON cost estimating requirements
  • Knowledge of construction documentation, terminology, and pricing

Nice If You Have:

  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate findings clearly and succinctly
  • Experience developing estimates for both private sector and government project development
  • Possession of strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide leadership, collaborate, and work with a diverse team
