Job Description
Job Responsibilities


This employee will serve as a Help Desk Technician to provide a variety of system installation, configuration, diagnostic evaluation, and repair services.


Job Duties Include


  • Developing and maintaining documentation regarding Help Desk operations and system configuration history.
  • Providing instruction and training to users in computer hardware, operating systems and applications software as appropriate.
  • Providing help desk trouble ticket support to agency in support of microcomputers and associated peripheral equipment including diagnostic evaluation of PC and computer equipment problems and working to resolve problems in accordance with agency help desk operations.
  • Insuring that base DNR software versions are current and operational.
  • Configuring systems to operational standards including user file transfer, applications software installation and testing, connection to DNR network infrastructure, mapping appropriate network-based storage and printer/plotter output devices and validation of operations.
  • Providing preventive maintenance support to agency personal computers and peripherals including regional offices and field stations to prevent potential system failure.
  • Installing and configuring computer workstations and peripheral equipment including hardware, software and firmware for agency staff.
  • Performing standard diagnostic evaluation including but not limited to defragmentation, inspection of appropriate system logs, off-line virus scans and other diagnostic tools.
  • Providing Systems Automation services support including creating and managing system images for installation and configuration of PCs and developing programs and scripts to automate procedures for software updates and system deployment.
Minimum and Additional Requirements


A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment of related systems. A degree in related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.


A+ or Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician (MSDT) certifications or equivalent certifications required within two (2) years of employment.


Preferred Qualifications


Thorough knowledge of Windows operating systems including Windows7 and Windows10. In addition, a minimum of two (2) years working technical knowledge and job-related experience in the installation, configuration, maintenance, operation, diagnostic evaluation and repair of personal computers and peripherals including various laser and inkjet printers, scanners, internal/external disk storage devices and media reader/recorders and in the installation, configuration and operation of Microsoft Office 365 software applications. Knowledge of installation and configuration of various desktop publishing and scientific statistical and GIS software.
