Position Summary
This position will serve as an Employment Specialist on the Building Evidence on Employment Strategies (BEES) for Low-Income Families grant project. This project is a collaboration between the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health and Lincoln Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Durham, NC. The project seeks to improve employment outcomes for identified individuals through engagement in the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment.
The Employment Specialist will be the primary provider of all aspects of the IPS service which includes engagement, assessment, case management, skills training, job coaching, as well as the development of relationships with potential employers in the community. The Employment Specialist will be responsible for completion of accurate, timely documentation to fulfill reporting requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate’s degree in a related Human Services discipline and two years of experience related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues is required.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently is essential.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate engagement with program participants and other stakeholders is essential.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Experience providing employment interventions other community-based services is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of local resources and case management processes is preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid driver’s license.
