Job Description
  • Foster and maintain positive and effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, support staff, district staff, students, parents and the community
  • Work within a team environment
  • Deliver appropriate instruction based on assessment results (Co-taught lessons in regular classroom, small guided reading groups in classroom, small intervention pull-out groups)
  • Assessment and Data Analysis (CBMs, Running Records,, AW+, KRT, BAS)
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively, both orally and in writing, with administration, colleagues, and parents/guardians in a timely manner
  • Regular communication/reporting with building and district administration
  • Use instructional time effectively
  • Plan lesson goals, materials, and resources to help meet learning needs of all students
  • In-depth knowledge of current best practices in literacy instruction
  • Understands how to administer and use assessment results to plan for instruction of individual needs of students
  • Be an integral/active member of the weekly ELA planning teams and MTSS meetings to help support and guide the discussion to move student achievement forward
  • Participate in professional development to remain current in the field of ELA and share knowledge with administration and staff
  • Determine reading groups and/or intervention groups after data analysis and team collaboration
  • Support District committees
  • Successfully create and maintain an organized and safe learning environment
  • Establish a welcoming classroom climate by utilizing fair and consistent management techniques
  • Understands ways to differentiate instruction for all learners
  • Experience with a variety of resources, including technology, to enhance student performance (Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention and Benchmark Assessment System, Lexia Learning, ReadyGen,Google Suites)
  • Assist teachers and administration with literacy needs
  • Facilitate teachers’ use of successful, research-based instructional reading strategies, including differentiated instruction for all learners
  • Be flexible to meet the needs that may arise
  • Successful experience teaching literacy at the elementary level for three (3) or more years.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports and meet appropriate deadlines
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles
  • Support and guide MTSS meetings
  • Fully certified teacher with a reading endorsement or master’s degree in reading education
