Job Description
Job Title: Electrician


Location: Cambridge, MA, 02142


Duration: 6 Months



  • Respond to reactive work orders and perform preventative maintenance as well as any additional projects/work that the team may need completed.


Responsibilities


  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Operates, inspects, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment in assigned facilities to achieve most efficient results.
  • Performs assigned repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, dependable, and courteous service to customers.
  • Uses electrical test equipment, gauges, and other measuring devices to evaluate electrical equipment.
  • Applies electrical code to troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical wiring / circuitry problems, install and repair electrical equipment and wiring, roughing in feeders, branch circuit cables and circuits, splice electric or communication cables/trunk lines, and trimming out (finishing) electrical devices.
  • Assures that equipment is being maintained in a safe manner.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
  • Reviews historical maintenance records to develop initiative-taking inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and understanding of operating budgets.
  • Installs Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
  • Operates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
  • Conducts basic financial analysis. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.
  • Performs device validation and system commissioning.
  • Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills. Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS, and training.
  • Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.
  • Minimizes down time through initiative-taking performance testing and scheduled maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively present information.


Education


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


Must Haves


  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License-This is necessary, manager will not interview without
  • Minimum of seven years' experience as a licensed electrician.
  • Valid driver's license required.


Nice To Haves


  • Prior experience with DDC and EMS preferred.
  • Completion a formal apprenticeship program preferred.
