POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking a skilled yet eager-to-learn individual with a background in electrical technology to fill a full-time, year-round Electrical Service Technician role in our Facility Services Department. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Electronics Technician along with guidance from the Master Electrician, this position assists in preparing, programming, analyzing, maintaining, fixing, and replacing Wisconsin State Fair Park’s (WSFP’s) electronic and electrical based assets.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Full-Time, permanent position in the unclassified service of the State of Wisconsin.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This unclassified position aligns with pay schedule/range (06-64) with a starting hourly rate of $21.00 to $25.00, dependent upon qualifications. Overtime compensation may be awarded during certain periods of the year. This position includes a comprehensive fringe benefits package, including pension, health insurance, and paid time off.

Candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair; for 2023 these dates are August 3 – 13, 2023. Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.

Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform routine power checks on lighting, receptacles and HVAC programs/systems throughout the fair park and for events
- Transport electrical supplies to various buildings and areas within the fair park
- Prepare and install electrical drops and minor equipment (electrical, A/V and IT) for events and projects throughout the year
- Keep accurate time and material records for services performed and work order completion
- Assist and/or lead work with event show layouts for rented WSFP buildings in conjunction with the Master Electrician, Event Manager and event promoter
- Transport and maintain portable light towers
- Perform marking of buried utilities in response to hotlining requests or project planning
- Manage, upkeep, and troubleshoot electronic systems throughout the fairgrounds including fire safety equipment, lighting and HVAC systems
- Assist with the tear down of A/V, IT and electrical equipment
- Repair damaged cables and plug ends
- Perform all other duties assigned
- Assist with lighting upgrades and maintenance of existing lighting park-wide
- Assist with scheduling contractors related to electronic/electrical based tasks along with reviewing completed work
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with electrical work orders
- Post-secondary degree in electrical technology or related field, preferred
- Able to operate lifts and work at heights up to 90 feet
- Knowledge of industry safety rules and regulations
- Experience with basic hand tools
- +3 years of experience in the use of various types of electrical and sound equipment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
