Job Summary

This position is on the Operations & Construction crew at the Alexandria and Springfield offices.

Responsibilities will include a full range of line construction and maintenance work on the electrical distribution systems. This position will involve working with both energized and de-energized electrical systems while troubleshooting, constructing, and repairing overhead and underground electrical lines. This position requires a valid CDL and overtime availability will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following.

  • Must presently be a qualified Distribution Journeyman Lineman
  • Climb poles and towers
  • Work aloft with and lift tools and material up to 60 lbs
  • Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances
  • Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain the distribution systems.
  • Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates
  • Work in adverse environments such as swamps, wetlands, coastal sounds, lakes, rivers, and mountains
  • Must be available for overtime including extended workdays and holidays
  • Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

That starting hourly rate for this position is $46.98

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Be able to obtain a Class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of work
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in the electric distribution field working as a Lineman
  • The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. is required
  • The ability to work off a ladder is required
  • Forklift operations, aerial lifts, power-driven equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, etc
  • Prefer a graduate of a recognized Lineman Training Program
  • Ability to climb poles and towers

Education Requirements

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
