We are hiring educational assistants who are willing to become Licensed Nursing Assistants. The is a schedule of Monday thru Friday from 7 am to 3 pm, 40 hours per week! (willing to train and pay for LNA certification)

Reports to: Director of Special Education


Base Rate: $ 16.00 per hour and with LNA starts at $18.00 not taking into consideration past experience is similar settings.


Primary Responsibilities


Assists the classroom teacher in implementing the educational program


  • Assists in the management of student's medical needs as requested by the nursing staff
  • Monitors students' response(s) to programming and modifies program, as recommended by the teacher (and in collaboration with classroom teacher)
  • Participates in classroom field trips and other outings into the community
  • Assists in preparing classroom materials
  • Reports observations and students' responses to classroom teacher and then to other appropriate team members
  • Monitors child's medical status as required, reporting any significant medical changes to the charge nurse
  • Works cooperatively with other classroom staff, rehab staff, and nursing staff
  • May be asked to serve as substitute teacher
  • Assists students with personal care as is a part of their programs
  • Documents and maintains all required data and progress notes
  • Lifts, transfers, and/or positions children according to the facility guidelines
  • Assists in implementing recommendations of related service providers as assigned
  • Provides support services to the education program
  • Assists in the management of student's medical needs in the classroom in accordance with the LNA job description
  • Starts and disconnects tube feedings as necessary
  • Reports and documents splint/brace use, stander/equipment use, mealtime and snack intake, school attendance, school recreational activities, voiding, bowel elimination, temperature, seizures, and other indicators as requested by nursing or therapy staff
  • Implements specific components of individual children's programs as assigned
  • Assists students to participate in group activities within the classroom setting
  • Participates in classroom planning, team meetings, and departmental meetings
  • Documents student attendance, as required
  • Assists students with oral motor, meal time, and snack routines as recommended by the therapy department
  • Assists in maintaining a positive and safe classroom environment


Preferred Qualifications


High School Diploma required. Current licensure as a LNA expected within six months of hire as education assistant. G Certification as Paraprofessional is optional.

Education Assistant for Cedarcrest School


  • One student per education assistant/LNA in each classroom
  • LNA (license as nursing assistant) required within six months of hire, course is paid by Cedarcrest
  • Weekly field trips and/or onsite activities and events with students
  • Differentials and/or overtime (paid at time and a half) for hours worked in residential program
  • Ability to pick-up extra hours or hours during school vacations in the residential program
  • Year-round school with 240 classroom days per school year


Benefits For Full-time Staff Include


  • Staff development funds of $1,000 per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30)
  • Earned time accrual for paid-time off (including six holidays per year for which there is an every-other holiday rotation)
  • Tuition reimbursement of $5,000 per fiscal year
  • A new staff member coming in at full-time would receive up to 30 days off throughout the year. This is the accrual if working 40 hours at 52 weeks of the year with no absences or time off.
  • Up to 20% of staff development funds available for wellness such as exercise programs, Yoga, Pilates, gym membership, etc and/or Ted's Shoe and Sport program for footwear for work
