Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education - Office of School Nutrition is recruiting for an Education Program Manager. Under limited supervision, this position manages and coordinates statewide accountability activities for the School Nutrition Division. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Description of Duties
  • Assist the director with budgeting allocated funds consistent with federal and state authority; planning and monitoring expenditures, supervising processing of obligations and expenditures within the department, and reporting on activity
  • Develop and implement an annual plan of work for the Coordinated Service and Support team consistent with the School Nutrition Division strategic plan, operational plan, training calendar, state performance expectations, and budget limitations
  • Facilitate an effective system of communication; advancing regulatory compliance and program enhancement among local and state program personnel related to areas of responsibility
  • Establish program priorities by conducting reviews and needs assessment(s) of local school systems and non-traditional schools that identify performance gaps and include analyzed data collected through program evaluation
  • Direct the design and delivery of technical assistance needed to maximize purposes of the School Nutrition Program including training for state and local program staff, administrators, and others involved in the administration and operation of the program
  • Analyze pertinent issues and initiating innovative projects that result in program improvement; and effectively supervising the assigned staff
  • Recommend statewide policy regarding the school nutrition program’s regulatory issues; evaluating qualitative and quantitative effectiveness of program efforts and analyzing evaluation results; and following up on deficiency areas
  • Statewide travel and a home office are required
Submit a copy of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification. Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
  • Five or more years' experience in a leadership role managing a School Nutrition program in a local school system, state agency, or college/university
  • Registered and licensed dietitian
  • School Nutrition Specialist Certification
  • *This is a remote telework position. There will be occasional travel throughout the state.
  • Georgia Professional Standards Commission School Nutrition Director Certification
  • Experience with development and delivery of training and technical assistance
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or administrative role in operation of the School Nutrition Program at a school, local school system, or state level
  • Master’s degree in business administration, education administration, nutrition/dietetics, education or a related field

Master's degree in education, administration, public administration or a related administrative field in the area of assignment from an accredited college or university AND L-5 certification AND Two years of program management experience in an educational setting.
