Job Description
Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) is seeking an economist to join our Economic and Policy Analysis practice that supports a wide range of policy-oriented research at the federal, state, and local levels. Our clients include the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and others.


Your Responsibilities Will Include


  • Supporting business development efforts by participating in bid and proposal processes.
  • Demonstrating technical leadership and expertise via presentations at conferences and authoring publications.
  • Preparing written reports, memoranda, models, and presentations.
  • Analyzing benefits, costs, and impacts of regulations, policies, and programs.
  • Conducting evaluations using standard and innovative quantitative and/or qualitative methods and techniques.
  • Serving as key technical analyst for domestic U.S. projects related to policies and regulations affecting worker’s wages, employment, and health and safety.


The Qualifications We Are Looking For Are


  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate analyses and findings to various stakeholders in non-technical language, including senior government officials.
  • Experience developing custom analytic models in Excel, R Shiny, TreeAge, or other platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and TEAMS.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ph.D. in Economics preferred (ideally Labor Economics); Master's Degree with experience in Economics or a related quantitative field, such as Data Science or Statistics considered.
  • Experience using R, Stata, or SAS for data analysis and predictive analytics.
  • Ability to conduct technical analyses both quantitative and qualitative in nature.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience in quantitative economic and policy analysis.
Geographic location for the position is flexible, but New England and Washington, D.C. areas are preferable.
