Early Childhood - Teacher Assistant

Summary

The Children?s School is looking for an educator to join our preschool team. We are a
fun-loving, hard-working team of early educators that are dedicated to young children
and their families. We have an opening for an Afternoon Educator for the 2023-2024
school year. The position is 20 to 25 (12:00-5:00 or 1:00- 5:00) hours per week Monday
through Friday. An ideal candidate is a team player, has strong communication and
interpersonal skills, and is a lover of teaching and playing with 3, 4 and 5-year-old
children.
Our experienced team of teachers creates play-based learning opportunities that
encourage children to pose questions, seek solutions, develop friendships, and
explore their creative and intellectual abilities. Our curriculum draws from the cycle of
seasons and world around us, process-oriented art and sensory experiences,
social-emotional growth, and the emergent interests of children. Located on a
beautiful property in South Burlington, TCS has a warm and inviting classroom and a
large outdoor space for play and exploration.

Duties

• Maintain frequent communications with parents, outside providers, and other staff
• Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Other duties as assigned
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Previous experience working with children in a classroom setting preferred
Undergraduate credits in child development and/or willingness to complete the
Fundamentals course within one year of the employment start date
Successful completion of the background check through the Child Development Division
(CDD) after hire
The completion of Online Mandated Reporter Training through the Child Development
Division
The completion of a 9-hour online State Mandated Training: Vermont Orientation
Training
CPR First Aid Certification
