Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Education Instructor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will utilize effective teaching methods to enhance student learning experiences for courses in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and Family Studies. Your commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment will help our students reach their full potential as learners.
Responsibilities
Employ a variety of teaching approaches, both synchronous and asynchronous, using cutting-edge technology suited to the discipline. This may encompass face-to-face, online, and video-conferenced courses as needed.
Collaborate closely with fellow Early Childhood Education faculty to design courses, administer vital assessments, and create engaging coursework that challenges students to excel.
Adhere to master syllabi and course outlines, ensuring the establishment of course content, interactive learning activities, project-based initiatives, video support, assignments, grading criteria, and more.
Comply with designated course instruction guidelines, including timely weekly announcements, active participation in discussions, prompt grading of student work within one week of submission, providing constructive feedback, responding to student queries within 24 hours, conducting virtual office hours, and other department-established requirements.
Maintain consistent and open communication with the Associate Dean of Early Childhood Education, faculty, and staff through various channels, fostering a strong sense of connection.
Attend virtual meetings with the Associate Dean at least once per semester to stay aligned with department goals.
Requirements
A minimum of 18 graduate-level credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and Family Studies; a master's degree is essential, with a doctorate degree preferred.
Three (3) years of experience in teaching within the Birth – 3rd Grade Classroom setting. Teaching experience at the bachelor's or master's level is advantageous.
Preferred Bilingual Proficiency (Spanish).
Proficiency in teaching online, hybrid, and video-conference courses.
Familiarity with online learning platforms and software tools to enhance distance learning interactions.
Experience in a supervisory capacity.
A background in contemporary evidence-based teaching strategies and innovative pedagogical approaches will be an asset.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to align with departmental needs.
Thorough knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Capacity to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Cultural sensitivity within both the university and community contexts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
Flexibility to potentially work additional hours or days based on circumstances.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
This role typically involves a standard classroom and laboratory environment. Occasional lifting of standard office equipment and materials may be required. Strong visual acuity for reading from screens, forms, printed materials, and presentations. Effective verbal communication and enunciation skills for conversations, phone calls, and face-to-face interactions. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and extended periods of sitting. Flexibility to adapt to varying work hours depending on the situation.
