SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining a high degree of professionalism and leadership while supervising Transport/Bobtail Drivers for Flyers Transportation. Responsible for interfacing with drivers, various Flyers departments, driver qualification files, training, safety, and progressive discipline. Travel regularly throughout Company Transportation/Bulkplant locations inspecting and ensuring: All Flyers Transportation directives and policies/procedures are communicated and being followed by driver team members.
Schedule: Monday - Sunday, On Call
Compensation: $80,000 - $93,000 DOE exempt
Bonuses: X2- Discretionary
Travel Required: 60% - 90%

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing and documenting quarterly ride along evaluations with all drivers that report to them - all drivers within their responsibility shall have a quarterly ride-along. When a Driver Manager does not complete all evaluations the reason must be documented -
  • Being on call unless time off has been approved. Responsible for taking any incident calls during business hours and after hours. Communicating incidents immediately with the necessary parties and following through with any and all documentation if needed. Covering on call for another Driver Manager if they are out on vacation.
  • Evaluates Transport/Bobtail Driver’s job performance, implements disciplinary procedures by ensuring that thorough documentation of all personnel matters is completed and filed according to Company guidelines.
  • Performs routine ride-along performance evaluations to ensure procedural compliance. This is the annual performance review.
  • Evaluates Driver’s job performance implements disciplinary procedures by ensuring that thorough documentation of all personnel matters is completed and filed according to Company guidelines.
  • Responsible for Driver schedules, vacation schedule, sick time entry and audit, changes to the E-driver Log - when required, and submitting any reimbursement receipts.
  • Incident Logs- Ensure each incident is documented on the incident log before the end of business week. Follow up and document at-fault, disciplinary, action items and eventually total costs. Maintain incident files to include all necessary documentation and follow-up items if it relates to the drivers you supervise.
  • Responsible for interfacing with drivers, maintaining driver files, training, implementing safety, payroll changes, workforce and progressive discipline in a timely manner. Driver Managers are ultimately responsible for recruitment of Drivers in partnership with the Human Resources Team. The primary focus of recruitment is to ensure all shifts in all areas have the proper number of drivers to fulfil the needs of Flyers Energy. In addition to recruitment they are responsible for the interviewing and onboarding of newly hired Drivers and providing them with all training and safety equipment needed.
  • Continuous monitoring of drivers scanned daily paperwork, communicating with drivers when scans are inadequate. Work with Billing when physical paperwork is not retrieved through the pouch for an extended period of time. Communicate with drivers when inconsistencies in paperwork arise, (coaching).
  • Responsible for Driver coaching, based on electronic data systems such as but not limited to - PeopleNet, Omnitracts,Smart Drive, TMW, Total Mail, BizSpeed, Direct Route, GoRoam, and etc. Driver Manager should complete coaching within 1 week of the incident on any of the above listed data sources. -
  • Travel regularly throughout their designated areas of responsibilities inspecting and ensuring: All Flyers Transportation directives and policies/procedures are communicated and being followed by Driver team members.
  • Works with and communicates effectively with Dispatch and Bulk Plant Managers.
  • Subject matter expert on loading and delivery procedures, legal requirements and specialized equipment
  • Aiding in any disputes among Drivers, Terminal Operators, Dispatcher, Customers, etc. in a professional manner that is representative of the Flyers Culture.
  • Completes monthly expense report prior to submitting for approval, no later than the 10th of every month and credit card reconciliation with coding completed no later than the 6th of every month.
  • Monitors compliance to safety and security policies and procedures, conducts quarterly safety meetings while working closely with the Company Safety and Compliance Specialist.
  • Ensuring all equipment is being used and maintained to Company standards. Coaching and addressing any instances where this is not happening.
  • Ensuring the truck yards overseen by the DM is maintained to Company standards. Coaching and addressing any instances where this is not happening. -
  • Monitors and maintains D.O.T Driver Qualification files and ensures compliance with all related regulations.
  • Supervising and responsible for ensuring that all drivers (within their designated areas) are trained and perform at a level consistent with Company operating and safety procedures/expectations.
  • Works with the Company Safety and Compliance Specialist to investigate all driving and procedure failure incidents. Responsible for maintaining a high degree of professionalism and leadership while supervising Transport/Bobtail Drivers for Flyers Transportation/ Western Energetix. Driver Manager’s are the Communication Liaison between drivers and Flyers Energy.
  • Documents and communicates annual performance reviews with all Team Members under their responsibility.
  • Monitors compliance to safety, security and conducts quarterly safety meetings. Safety Meetings
  • Supervises and is responsible for ensuring that all Transport/Bobtail Drivers are trained and perform at a level consistent with Company operating and safety procedures.
  • Relentlessly implementing the Flyers Culture, including a culture of Safety.
  • Scheduling, sending memos, compiling topics with content, providing necessary material such as work gloves, delivery receipts, and company approved uniform items.
  • Keep track of all new hires (within 90 days) work with the Fleet Specialist on scheduling a New Hire Orientation date with as minimal impact to Dispatch or the respective Bulk Plant as possible. Reserve Hotel Room and coordinate travel for Team Members that will be in attendance.
  • Subject matter expert on loading and delivery procedures, legal requirements and specialized equipment. Subject matter expert on the Mobil products and Mobil product integrity.
  • Continually monitors and evaluates driver paperwork to maintain legal and Co. policy compliance.
  • Maintaining a high level of communication in a timely manner with Dispatch, Fleet Managers, Drivers, other Driver Managers, Bulk Plant Personnel, and any other Team Members. Treating all Team Members, Drivers, Customers with a high level of respect.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Stay familiar with company Handbook, OPM and company policies.
  • Must be willing to learn the different transport and bobtail jobs. If a DM's experience and expertise is in fuel , he will make every effort to learn as much about the other products being delivered in his area or vice versa. Learn as much as possible of the operations of all your team.

  • Perform specific tasks as assigned by the Transportation Operations Manager.
  • Regularly assigned schedules may be altered to meet the needs of the Company based on department vacation/sick schedules. Hours and shift schedules may vary week by week based on business needs.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all accidents immediately. -
  • Presents a neat, clean appearance as prescribed by Company policy.
  • Communicate effectively with TMs in the other departments to resolve problems and provide information as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Degree or equivalent in technical school: 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other proprietary software applications.
LANGUAGE and/or COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the guests and other team members.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and to read comprehensive instructions as well as procedural manuals.
  • Ability to think and act independently.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and use all available tools and creativity to solve complex and interrelated problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, stand, talk or hear. TM is frequently required to walk. The TM is occasionally required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hand and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The TM must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to examine documents, reports and other data in either hard copy or electronic form.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a TM encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
