Job Description


      Position Summary:
      The messenger is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of medications and supplies to patient’s residence. The messenger works independently in the field, taking direction from Pharmacy and the Dispatcher to complete daily routes. This requires excellent customer service skills as well as good skills in time management, organization and basic problem resolution. The messenger provides front line customer service, forming relationships with customers which seek not only to meet customer needs, but which represent the mission, vision and values of Park Nicollet Health Services.

      Education/Experience
      High school graduate. Experience (1+ years) in driving for a courier or delivery service. Familiarity with the health care environment preferred.

      Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses
      • Demonstrates the ability to operate an alpha-numeric pager and/or a cellular telephone, following Pharmacy policies.
      • Demonstrates the ability to operate an automobile safely, following Minnesota state law and Park Nicollet policies and procedures.
      • Demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills in performing daily routine tasks and in resolving issues within the scope of basic customer service.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of specific paperwork required in the course of a routine shift.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of time management and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions and infection control practices.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of excellent customer service skills.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of professional communication skills.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of a team-based environment and team work ethic.
