Job Description
Memorial Blood Centers (MBC.ORG), a division of Innovative Blood Resources (www.innovativebloodresources.org), has been saving and sustaining lives since 1948. We supply blood and blood components, state-of-the-art laboratory services, and biomedical expertise to area healthcare partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients. Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 30 area hospitals and more than a dozen air ambulances with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.

This position is a unique opportunity to use a range of your CDL skills by transporting bloodmobiles as well as employing customer service skills to ensure successful blood drives. Drivers will ensure safe and on-time delivery of the vehicle to the scheduled site followed by return to the garage; maintain adequate inventory of supplies on vehicles and ensure that vehicles are clean; perform a greeter role on blood drives; and secure blood units, samples, and donor medical records for transport to the processing center.

Schedule Hours vary with rotating weekends. Flexible schedule needed. Local driving, home nightly.


Job Responsibilities


Upon completion of your paid training, you will be able to


  • Garage days
  • Follow computer security requirements
  • Begin Day
  • During Drive
  • Vehicle Inspection
  • Mobile preparation and site setup for a blood drive
  • End of Drive
  • Pre-Trip
  • Ensure exceptional customer service for donors and and blood drive sponsor as well as proper packaging of blood units
  • Greet the blood drive sponsor representatives and introduce yourself
  • Sync and and sign out of computer system
  • Support blood drive operations per instructions provided by the Operational Lead
  • Follow Drive Worksheet instructions for unloading and drive set-up
  • Upon Arrival
  • Prepare, transport, unload, load and return vehicles before and after assigned blood drives
  • On-site recruiting of blood donors
  • Cleaning vehicles
  • Completing DOT drivers logs
  • Other Duties, as assigned
  • Demonstrate dependability, punctuality and cooperation
  • Participate in regular communication and monthly meetings with Operational Supervisor to discuss performance, expectations, recent events and changes in procedure
  • Road Test
  • Maintains and promotes inter-departmental teamwork and communication
  • Prepare blood products for transport back to the lab
  • Demonstrate flexibility, versatility and a willingness to assist coworkers
  • Complete Driver's responsibilities for completion of a blood drive

High School Diploma or equivalent


License


Valid/Current CDL (Class A OR Class B w/ Airbrakes)


Current Medical Card / ability to pass a DOT Physical


Physical


Ability to lift 40lbs


Preferred Skills


2 years driving trucks, buses, coaches, or larger cargo vehicles


Excellent driving record free of any accidents of moving violations within the past 3 years


Customer service experience
