Job Description

We are hiring a Doorperson/Security Personnel to guard the entrance of a residential building on Northern's campus, contributing to security measures and providing basic assistance. This entails opening doors for people and greeting them as they come in, but can include other services such as signing visitors in and out, monitoring adherence to visiting hours, etc. The Doorperson/Security Personnel is also responsible for ensuring the safety of everyone inside.


Essential Functions Include:

  • Routinely inspect the building for safety, patrolling all areas, reporting damages, and reviewing surveillance
  • Periodically check on apartments and the building for lease violations, calling the police when necessary
  • Greet and assist visitors, residents and staff
  • Act as the first point of contact with people entering the building, looking out for suspicious activity and check for identification or ask visitors to log in
  • Monitor safety - stay alert during entire shift in order to screen for security
  • Direct package deliveries to main building

Doorman/Security Personnel will guard the entrance of a residential building on Northern's campus, contributing to security measures and providing basic assistance. This entails opening doors for people and greeting them as they come in, but can include other services such as signing visitors in and out, monitoring adherence to visiting hours, etc. A less obvious but extremely important aspect of the job is ensuring the safety of everyone inside. Regardless of their work setting, it’s common for doormen to be on their feet for long hours, even staying outdoors regardless of the weather.


Doorman Duties and Responsibilities

Greet and Assist People

Periodically check on apartments and the building for lease violations, calling the police when necessary

For quick inquiries regarding directions or building facilities, people typically talk to doormen, who must be knowledgeable about all the features of the building as well as restaurants, shops, tourist attractions, and other important places in the vicinity. They may also hear about complaints or concerns, which they relay to co-workers from the appropriate department.

Monitor Safety

Doorman/Security personnel must stay alert during their entire shift in order to screen for security. As the first point of contact with people entering the building, they lookout for suspicious activity and will check for identification or ask visitors to log in. In addition, these staff routinely inspect the building for safety, patrolling all areas, reporting damages, and reviewing surveillance.

Qualifications

BASIC SKILL SETS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous doorman or security guard experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate COVID guidelines and the process.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
