Job Description

Dog Yard Bar is looking for an experienced dog trainer/handler to join our incredible Ballard team. Even if you have a little experience in dog training, we encourage you to apply, as we can also provide additional training assistance and help with certification. This role is handling in the park on weekends engaging with guests and their pups ensuing healthy play and educating guests as needed. Opportunity to add training sessions for Bar clients.

Summary
The Trainer works as a contributing member to the overall store operations to help ensure client training needs are supported, employee job training needs are supported and serves as quality assurance for internal operations. This is a visible position, which interacts with many levels of the organization across multiple functions.

Starting Wage: $22-$24/hr DOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the Trainer position. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs.

  • Training and re-training of new and tenured staff on appropriate handling skills
  • Obedience training in a class setting
  • One-on-one obedience training for daycare and boarding dogs
  • Ongoing quality assurance of dog handling operations
  • Marketing to attract new clients
  • Email and phone correspondence with clients for scheduling and follow up training recaps
  • Evaluation of potential new dogs to daycare
  • Ensure client needs are being met and ensure satisfaction of services through effective communication
  • Ensure staff needs are being met through high quality department trainings
