Day Shift: 7:00am – 6:30pm
Night Shift: 7:00pm – 6:30am
Job Responsibilities And Duties
As Dispatcher, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and directing the safe, efficient movement of traffic (including personnel, supplies, ore, and waste) on the rail systems; coordinating, tracking, monitoring, and reporting the internal movement of ore and waste production by the haulage fleets; fielding and recording breakdown calls and relaying this information to the Mine Operations and Maintenance staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: facilitating the movement of ore, waste and personnel, timely and accurately transferring information between supervisors and departments on a shift-by-shift basis, accurately documenting call logs on spread sheets and preparing end of shift reports; working with other supervisors, lead persons and departments on a daily basis; coordinating the flow of material and equipment through employees not under the direct supervision of the Dispatcher; initiating/implementing recommendations to improve the efficiency of the operation; handling/assisting with mine emergencies; and working in close quarters with other Dispatchers. The successful candidate for this position will be assigned to perform front line supervisory duties, on an as needed basis.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must meet and maintain qualifications for working with explosives per the Safe Explosives Act.
• Leadership qualities: character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with and train employees on various assignments/equipment.
• Supervisory and management skills and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of underground mining operations including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment, and staff utilization.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred

• Ability/capability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a diplomatic manner.
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Computer skills- MS Office, JD Edwards.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma and 1-2 years of specialized training in mine operations or a related field, and 4-7 years of related work experience; OR bachelor's degree in mining or related field and 1-2 years related work experience.
