The Opportunity


This role will lead our team of Technical Service Managers (TSM) who are accountable for driving differentiation, margin improvement, and supply chain optimization for our key accounts. This leader will be accountable for developing and executing a strategy that will enable the team to contribute to our WestRock Strategic objectives. Through WestRock’s Commercial Excellence lens, a key accountability will be to coach and develop the team to engage with the customer’s top shop and back shop and WestRock enterprise resources and deliver solutions that will lower total cost, grow sales, minimize risk, and improve sustainability. A wide degree of creativity and latitude; as well as knowledge of operational functions of customer production lines, packaging development processes, and supply chain dynamics will enable this leader to develop effective strategies for the team.


How You Will Impact WestRock


  • Manage contribution reporting, pipeline development, and hold team accountable for compliance.
  • Other people management and administrative responsibilities.
  • Deploy continuous education and training platforms that will develop expertise around WestRock’s Commercial Excellence methodology and other business or technical capabilities necessary for the TSM role .
  • Set and direct the strategic goals of the TSM organization and enable the team to deliver differentiation, margin improvement, enterprise sales, improved sustainability, and volume growth.
  • Oversee coverage model and ensure talent is allocated appropriately.
  • Manage Director's reports to leadership that highlight KPIs and accomplishments of the team.
  • Provide ad hoc support and guidance to TSMs that will enable them to deliver on all accountabilities.
  • Coach TSMs and ensure execution of WestRock’s Commercial Excellence methodology .


What You Need To Succeed


  • Effective project management skills (Six Sigma methodology preferred).
  • Ability to effectively lead, collaborate with, and influence teammates from various functions and levels across the enterprise.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • CPG work experience preferred.
  • Heightened ability to critical think and problem solve.
  • Four-year college degree from accredited institution with an emphasis in Packaging Engineering, Sales, Marketing, or related discipline preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
  • Ten or more years in technical sales or related experience.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead people effectively.
  • Data analytics experience preferred.
  • Insightful business judgment.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Strategy development and execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competency and initiative.
  • Full understanding of WestRock Enterprise solutions.
  • Balanced technical breadth and business acumen.
  • Broad understanding of different types of equipment, technology, and packaging capabilities relevant to the packaging industry.
