Job Description
The Director, Strategic Initiatives plays a crucial role in organizational and leadership development initiatives through tactical guidance, policy development, and data gathering/analysis. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, a solid background in either healthcare administration or nonprofit management, experience collaborating on policy development, and intentional infusion of equitable practices and approaches into all initiatives.


  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, donors, and community partners.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and events, promoting the organization's interests and fostering positive relationships.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration by facilitating communication and teamwork among senior executives, department leaders, and staff.
  • Initiate, develop, produce, and execute innovative projects within Kennedy Krieger Institute and/or through community/corporate partnerships in collaboration with leadership, colleagues, and other relevant constituents.
  • Partner with the Human Resources department to develop and implement organizational and leadership development programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion are embedded in all project tasks and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct research, gather and analyze data, and provide insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making as well as short- and long-term planning.
  • Monitor the progress of strategic initiatives, assess outcomes, and adjust goals as necessary to ensure successful execution.
  • Develop processes and implement strategies to prepare for accreditation and regulatory activities, such as The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), College of American Pathologist (CAP) and federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to the executive suite administrative staff by promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Stay informed about relevant healthcare and other industry trends that may impact the organization's operations and mission. Provide input and guidance on policy matters.
  • Create and implement organizational policies and procedures aligned with industry regulations, best practices, strategic objectives, and organizational needs in collaboration with Institute leadership, colleagues, and other relevant constituents.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Kennedy Krieger Institute leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with the organization's mission, vision, values, and goals.


EDUCATION


Master's degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, or a related field required.


EXPERIENCE


Minimum of 5 years of management experience with progressively increasing leadership responsibility in healthcare administration, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field required.
