Job Description
The Director role is responsible for developing strategy and the execution of efficient and cost-effective warehouse and distribution operations for all facilities in Boston, MA. This position will directly manage Warehouse and Distribution Managers and third-party logistics relationships.


Responsibilities Include But May Not Be Limited To


  • Manage outside cold storage warehouse relationships and offsite storage facilities.
  • Develop “best-in-class” logistics and warehousing business processes capable of ensuring consistent delivery of goods, reduce stock outs and improve on time delivery to customer requirements.
  • Manage warehouse material handling equipment.
  • Develop and execute policies, plans and programs to meet anticipated organizational needs in the areas of functional responsibility and ensure compliance with corporate policies and guidelines, ISO standards, GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage/ Perform ABC and 123 analyses’ for optimizing inventory levels. Ensure that the inventories are maintained in the most cost efficient and logical warehouse locations to minimize time to market and maximize profitability.
  • Management of inbound receipts and outbound freight.
  • Direct the daily operations of company’s Warehousing, Logistics, Inventory Control departments to reduce costs and improve service to internal and external customers.
  • Freight/vendor transportation negotiations and execution.
  • Implement and maintain a safe, clean and professional work environment for all employees.
  • Develop processes and SOPs for inventory accuracy and efficient management of warehouse area.
  • Propose, establish and coordinate all 3 rd party warehousing and logistics (3PL) services.
  • Leading cost reduction initiatives.
  • Analyze, recommend and deploy system-solutions to automate and integrate logistics processes across the business.
  • Lead, direct and manage Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution and Inventory Control departments’ operational and strategic planning processes: including fostering innovation, implementing and managing cost reduction and process improvement initiatives/ projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Manage, mentor, and motivate Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution and Inventory Control staff to ensure professional growth and continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, delivery, and safety. This includes recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, coaching and counseling.
  • Implement Inventory Control methods capable of ensuring highly accurate and efficient inventories. Improve inventory turns.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution and Inventory Control departments.


Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following Qualifications And Skills


  • Excellent leader and motivator with great management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Management.
  • Experience with inventory-tracking software and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Work effectively in a matrix management environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in logistics, warehouse or inventory management, transportation management for TL, LTL and FedEx/UPS shipments
  • Experience with outside storage and 3PL service providers
  • Strong inclination to get engaged fully and to understand all tasks in detail
  • Ability to lead others in a results-oriented team manner
  • Comfortable with periodic travel to company plants and facilities
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts
  • Inventory management experience
