Job Title: Director of Transportation

Department: Transportation Operations

Oversee all transportation functions, including asset-based and brokerage divisions. Full P&L responsibility. Responsible for day-to-day management of transportation functions, fleet performance monitoring, routing efficiency to ensure accurate, timely delivery to customers in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.Ensure company trucks follow DOT regulations.Optimize routing and maintain proactive communication with internal staff, customers with any changes in schedule. Develop innovative ideas to promote efficiency and grow the business. Manage driver recruitment, safety, and fleet maintenance requirements.

1)Responsible for optimizing company truck routing and route sequences for trucks to maximize efficiency.

2)Responsible for the Brokerage division only using qualified carriers making sure all supporting documentation and pricing agreements are in order for each shipment.

3)Responsible for staying current on market rates using DAT and other pricing tools.

4)Responsible to see that Brokered truck rates are negotiated within the parameters given to insure the most profitable option is used.

5)Responsible to review profit margins daily verifying each shipment is profitable

6)Guide and direct operations personnel in customer and carrier communications.

7)Proactive communication to internal as well as external contacts regarding scheduling.

8)Manage partner carrier performance.

9)Effectively oversee backhaul program.

10)Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.

11)Collaborate with Transportation Team Members to provide consistent carrier and customer interaction for day-to-day operation.

12)Provide analytical reporting for transportation management covering inbound and outbound, 3rd Party and Direct shipments.

13)Assist in developing and presenting transportation data reporting to support managers and department goals.

14)Other duties and special projects as requested.

15)Full P&L responsibilities of department.

16)Work closely with executive leadership, sales, and warehousing to grow the business

Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree preferred. Experience leading a cross-functional transportation or logistics team required.
