Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as the Director of Transportation with the DuPage County Division of Transportation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities Include:


  • Provides leadership and direction for a staff of professional and subprofessional employees engaged in planning, engineering, construction, maintenance, permitting and finance
  • Directs the development of the annual budget and makes funding and resource recommendations
  • Serves as County representative on transportation related matters and policies to local, regional, State, and Federal agencies and partners
  • Directs studies, analyses, and evaluations for the appropriate County Board parent committee
  • Delegates authority to subordinate managers in specialized area and assures that work is completed thoroughly and efficiently
  • Provide administrative oversight and direction to include: strategic planning, policy development, resource allocation, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
  • Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements Include:


  • Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible experience in transportation
  • Five (5) years of experience in a managerial or administrative capacity with staffing and budgeting responsibilities
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
The preferred candidate will possess a valid Illinois Professional Engineer license.

A pre-employment background check is required.
