Job Description

This is a full-time position located at the Guest House of Graceland in the Operations Department with variable/flexible working hours to include weekends, holidays, and evenings as required with benefits after successful completion of a sixty (60) day probationary period. This is an internal/external recruitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the Direction of the Guest House General Manager.

·Responsible for leading, managing, and supervising Housekeeping, Laundry, Front Desk, Concierge, Bell Person and Guest Services Departments.

·Implement and manage the hotel’s daily quality process including goal communication, employee improvement, compliance with standards of product and performance, service recovery and problem resolution. Distribute the feedback from reviews, comments, guest satisfaction and/or service improvements and coach employees accordingly.

·Review Security logs daily for significant incidents and coordinate with department heads all enforcement of policy and/or improvements in service needed.

·Work closely with the Hotel Manager in establishing and monitoring policies and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the hotel to ensure profitability and consistency. Solve problems of detail that come up in the course of the work.

·Direct and oversee the development of department managers, associates, train, coach, and counsel and conduct performance reviews, interview, and select associates; resolve conflicts/problems for all areas supervised.

·Prepare budget information for the General Managers and Finance Department.

·Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Previous experience managing and directing within a four-diamond luxury independent hotel preferred; at least three years of Housekeeping and Front Office operations needed; Laundry Operations experience is needed; knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, team leadership and coordination of people and resources; awareness of market dynamics, company objectives and important aspects of the business to accurately diagnose strengths and weaknesses, anticipate opportunities and risks, identify issues, and develop strategies and plans; strong leadership and supervisory skills including skilled in performance appraisals, motivating employees and participating in employee development; Excellent communication skills both orally and written are required; ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity; good computer skills versed in Opera and SynXis software applications is preferred, as well as Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint; proofreading and editing skills; reading skills to understand and interpret regulations, policies, procedures and memorandum; organizational skills to determine workload priorities; good communication/public speaking skills to address small and large groups.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality or Restaurant Management preferred with 5-10 years with 3 years’ experience leading and directing an operation within a luxury hotel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to stoop, reach, walk and stand for long periods of time; ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.; speak clearly and distinctly to communicate both in person and over the phone.
