Job Description

Clements Foods Company, a leader in food manufacturing, has an immediate opening for a Director of Purchasing. The roles and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

1. Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.

2. Maintain a measurable performance for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance and buyer activity level

3. Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.

4. Know and understand food quality standards in connection with securing quality product.

5. Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

6. Maintain records of goods ordered and received.

7. Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level in order to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate level.

8. Confer and plan with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

9. Control purchasing department budgets.

10. Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

11. Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.

12. Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.

13. Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.

14. This position is consistent with being a self-initiating leader that will be able to make decisions based on numerous aspects of business.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Must be available to President and Vice President when needed beyond work hours.
