MUST:
- 7+ years of Organizational level strategic experience
- 7+ years of project/program management experience
- Able to come in and assess the current environment and put in right structure to align all different projects and initiatives as a company
- Experience with Agile methodology and some experience in technology focused projects
- Has built and formed various types of PMO’s, not just IT PMO’s
- Can help build basic reporting and standing up functions within a PMO
- Executive level communication with high level stakeholders
- Super enthusiastic and strong energy
- Desire to want to build something from scratch and pitch PMO model to the company
- Knows ways and best practices of running a project, but is not super rigid
- Has some people management experience
- Someone who has sat closely with executive teams and aligning strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree

DAY TO DAY:
Seeking a Director of PMO for our fast growing and exciting organization. This is a critical role which will be responsible for managing the project portfolio as well as supporting strategy, operations, and implementation across the company. This role includes many facets but some of the highlights would be: developing standards and processes from scratch and utilizing effective project management and oversight to manage several transformational programs. We are seeking an expert problem solver, a great communicator, a leader, and a collaborator. The candidate should be comfortable in a start-up environment and have a large interest in building a PMO for a fast-growing company. Located in Durham and has reporting responsibilities to the Executive Management Team.
The Director will have oversight of all projects and initiatives within the PMO. Our projects sit within our functional areas, and this person is looking at our priorities for the next year and helping take the high level of that and break that down into resource allocation, when, where, then mobilize that into project plans and project work. Types of projects they have to be comfortable with: Could be comfortable with a facilities project, finance projects, taking the company global, and IT projects, launching insurance products, new technologies, financial systems, etc.
