Job Description
The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Director of Player Engagement to support the Football program.
The Director of Player Engagement is responsible for preparing student athletes for personal, and academic success through player development activities, community service opportunities, and various operational and administrative duties. This role is responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the ACC Conference and NCAA.

The Director of Player Engagement will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:

Player Development

  • Coordinate on-boarding processes for spring/summer and mid-year football student-athletes.
  • Assist with the implementation of the entire CAV Code including all Career Development, Life Skills/Leadership, Curriculum, and Personal Growth.
  • Organize team building activities throughout the year.
  • Assist with student-athlete compliance with mandatory University, athletic department, and program tasks.

Community Service/Outreach

  • Under the direction of the Head Football Coach and in partnership with the Athletics Department community engagement team coordinate all football related outreach/community service projects.

Operations

  • Coordinate student athlete ticket ordering and distribution.
  • Assist with on-grounds recruiting.
  • Coordinate housing, moving and transportation logistics.
  • Assist with NFL Pro Day.

Administrative/Office Management

  • Assist with program philanthropic support.
  • Assist with event planning and execution as needed.
  • Coordinate facility TV communication plan.
  • Coordinate players’ corner – entertainment.

Compliance

  • Assist in promoting an atmosphere of compliance. Get approvals from the Compliance Staff before acting to ensure actions are consistent with ACC and NCAA rules.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of NCAA, ACC and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Proven organizational skills and an openness to new approaches and new ideas.
  • Ability and desire to perform accurate, detail-oriented work, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated genuine concern and interest for the welfare of student-athletes.
  • Excitement about building our program; a positive and high energy level with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, working quickly and completing tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and sound judgments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. This position includes a considerable amount of travel.

Required Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (4+ years) related experience.

Experience : Some working knowledge of Division 1 Football programs.
