At our headquarters office in Maryland, we are currently seeking to add to the team a Director of Operations.


Job Summary:

Oversees the day-to-day activities of manufacturing, material management, quality control and IT departments ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.



Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Participate in hiring and training of departmental managers.
  • Organize and oversee the work and schedules of departmental managers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.



Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Drive improvement processes including production activities, material management, and work forces utilization to improve process capability.
  • Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Create, review and implement standard operating procedures for production operations.
  • Coordinate with other support departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
  • Assist with budget preparation for operations unit.
  • Determine labor needs to meet production goals.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems. Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure effective management of production lines for operational excellence. Maintain a cost effective and high-standard production plant.
  • Implement cost control programs.
  • Plan, direct, control, and monitor budgets and costs of sales in each department to achieve financial objectives.
  • Measure productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Lead, coordinate and integrate efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service to promote seamless workflow and cost-effective business processes.



Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques or maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; M.B.A. preferred.
  • Instrumentation experience is a plus.
  • 7-10 years of related experience managing a moderately complex production facility.
  • Experience in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
