Role & Responsibilities

As the Director of M&A, you will play a critical role in driving Midland Industries' growth by identifying, evaluating, and executing potential acquisition opportunities that align with our business objectives. This strategic leadership position requires a visionary individual with a deep understanding of the wholesale and manufacturing industries and a proven track record in executing successful mergers and acquisitions.


  • M&A Strategy Development: Develop and refine the M&A strategy to achieve Midland Industries' growth objectives. Collaborate with executive leadership to align acquisition goals with the overall business strategy.
  • Integration Planning: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop integration plans for newly acquired companies, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with Midland Industries' operations and culture.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify potential threats and opportunities for Midland Industries' growth.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Considerations: Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to M&A activities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with executive leadership, to provide updates on M&A activities and present potential investment opportunities.
  • Due Diligence and Valuation: Lead the due diligence process for potential acquisitions, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and synergy evaluation. Develop valuation models to determine the attractiveness and potential return on investment for each target.
  • Post-Acquisition Performance Monitoring: Monitor and assess the performance of acquired businesses, ensuring they meet established objectives and integration milestones.
  • Deal Origination: Proactively identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets in the fittings, hose, and valve industry. Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for expansion.
  • Negotiation and Deal Structuring: Oversee negotiations with potential acquisition targets to secure favorable terms and conditions. Collaborate with legal and financial teams to structure and execute acquisition agreements.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Five plus years of M&A experience preferably in the Industrial, Plumbing/PVF, Waterworks or Irrigation wholesale markets.


Success in this role requires the following skillset:

  • Proven experience in successfully leading and executing mergers and acquisitions in the manufacturing or wholesale industry.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth understanding of the end-to-end M&A process, including deal origination, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Willingness to travel as required to facilitate deal negotiations and integration activities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align M&A activities with broader business goals.
  • Knowledge of the fittings, hose, and valve industry, including market dynamics, competitor landscape, and emerging trends to identify strategic opportunities for growth through acquisitions.
  • Excellent negotiation and deal-making skills with a track record of securing favorable terms.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, modeling, and valuation techniques to assess potential acquisition targets and evaluate investment opportunities.
  • In-depth understanding of legal and regulatory aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets based on strategic fit and financial viability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
