In the digital world, content drives marketing and sales. The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing the content that is needed to increase brand awareness, lead generation and revenue. Develop and implement content marketing strategies, tactics and campaigns, which will focus on creating active social communities, influencing online conversations, developing compelling content that drives engagement, listening to and responding to community feedback, building relationships with influential parties and analyzing and reporting on optimization efforts.


Working with the Director of Sales and other members of marketing and sales, the Director of Marketing will develop the content strategy as well as work with internal and external resources to create and deploy that content across the buying cycle and relevant marketing channels (digital and traditional).


The Director of Marketing leads social media and blogging efforts for Virgin Hotels. In addition, they lead all PR-related marketing activities.

What exactly you will be doing…


In helping you understand your role in working for a world class organization, the following is a list of your essential job responsibilities. Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive and that you may be asked to perform other job tasks by your manager not listed below in the constant quest to provide “out of this world” customer service experience for our guests:


  • Identify, interpret, monitor and capitalize on social media trends as well as provide new social media strategy recommendations
  • Creates marketing content, in collaboration with internal and external resources, including but not limited to video, blogs, social media posts, emails and multi-media content. Ensures that content on all owned digital assets is up to date. Works with DOSM and DORM to also ensure that content on third party digital sites that feature the hotel is up to date and consistent with owned digital assets.
  • Work with Virgin Hotels brand PR agency and local hotel agency in ideation, and execution of traditional PR strategy.
  • Analyze external marketplace, industry trends and public customer & competitor conversations
  • Develops and manages key media channels including industry publications, public relations, social media and Virgin Hotels blog
  • Tracks budgets and expenses.
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources to ensure coordinated delivery and tracking of all marketing programs.
  • Prioritizes and targets content to the various stages of the marketing/sales funnel
  • Leverage social media and website platforms to launch crowd-sourced content campaigns and contests
  • Develops and communicates content calendar so that marketing and sales know what content is being published when. Creates and maintains content resource library for use across the marketing and sales process.
  • Work with the Director of Sales in creating email marketing campaigns and maintaining database management of the CRM system. Study analytics and sentiment to properly guide the hotels strategy for optimal results.
  • Ensures consistent message, tone, voice and proper grammar and spelling across all content and communication created.
  • Identifies and works with Virgin Hotels partners for highlight or use in marketing content.
  • Develop and build relationships with key online influencers (e.g. widely followed Bloggers, users with a large number of 're-tweets' on Twitter) to support social media goals. This includes managing relationships with 2nd and 3rd tier social media users.

Background must-have:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience working with social media
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with clients, guests, vendors, teammates/management, in person, in writing and on the telephone
