Job Summary

As the Director of Logistics, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire logistics operations of our food production company. Your main focus will be on ensuring the efficient movement of raw materials and finished goods between our production facilities, warehouses, and distribution centers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic logistics plans, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating performance to ensure service level agreements are met.
• Oversee the implementation of logistics software and systems to automate processes and improve visibility within the supply chain.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology, applying relevant innovations to improve operations.
• Collaborate with procurement and production teams to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
• Implement best practices in inventory management, warehousing, and transportation to streamline processes and minimize lead times.
• Continuously monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Oversee the transportation of raw materials to production facilities and coordinate the distribution of finished goods to warehouses and distribution centers.
• Lead and supervise the logistics team, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Develop and execute comprehensive logistics strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to transportation, safety, and environmental standards.
• Liaise with sales and customer service teams to address logistics-related customer inquiries and resolve any delivery issues promptly.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments of the logistics department, identifying training needs and opportunities for skills development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize logistics processes and implement efficiency improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using data-driven approaches to decision-making.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in logistics and supply chain management within the food production or manufacturing industry.
• Familiarity with logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in logistics and transportation.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management practices.
• Willingness to travel occasionally between company locations and meet with logistics partners as needed.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
