- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating performance to ensure service level agreements are met.
- Oversee the implementation of logistics software and systems to automate processes and improve visibility within the supply chain.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology, applying relevant innovations to improve operations.
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Implement best practices in inventory management, warehousing, and transportation to streamline processes and minimize lead times.
- Continuously monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee the transportation of raw materials to production facilities and coordinate the distribution of finished goods to warehouses and distribution centers.
- Lead and supervise the logistics team, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Develop and execute comprehensive logistics strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to transportation, safety, and environmental standards.
- Liaise with sales and customer service teams to address logistics-related customer inquiries and resolve any delivery issues promptly.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments of the logistics department, identifying training needs and opportunities for skills development.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize logistics processes and implement efficiency improvements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using data-driven approaches to decision-making.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in logistics and supply chain management within the food production or manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in logistics and transportation.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management practices.
- Willingness to travel occasionally between company locations and meet with logistics partners as needed.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
