Job Description
Director of Information Technology
Working collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), internal Information Services staff, and external partners, contributes to the overall technical tactical and operational goals of the organization, and helps implement the IT processes to meet those goals. Provides direction, leadership, and oversight for technical staff across our six-state service area, IT initiatives, technical projects, and existing systems and infrastructures. Assists CIO with strategic direction and HIPAA Security & Privacy management.
Essential Functions:
Directs the planning, implementation and maintenance of IT in support of business operations. Oversees all activities of the IT team. Works in partnership with the Vice President of Applications & Information Management to provide support and meet end user requirements for internal and external customers. Provides tactical direction and implementation of technologies appropriate to the agency’s needs. Responsible for vendor relationships, purchase and acquisition, technical security, technical operations, and all activities in support of effective technical operations
Major Responsibilities:
As a member of the Information Services Leadership Team, participates in strategic, tactical, and operational planning for the business.
As the Director of technical operations, contributes to national emerging business initiatives and PPFA Information Services functions.
As the senior leader of the technical team, provides all management functions for technical group within department. Manages and leads the technical team across the six-state service area. Oversees the IT staff in providing support for the firm’s data information systems. This includes troubleshooting hardware and software problems and assisting with identifying the best information services solution to a specific business problem or set of issues.
Understands the business needs and technology solutions for all internal and external customers including Clinical Services, Patient Financial Services, Education and Training, Advocacy, Support Services and the Laboratory Services Cooperative. Works collaboratively with end users to provide IT services and support that meets business goals and objectives. Serves as an escalation point for both break-fix issues and project portfolio initiatives.
Oversees the IT staff in providing support for the agency’s data information systems. This includes troubleshooting hardware and software problems and assisting with the identifying the best information services solution to a specific business problem or set of issues.
Responsible for helping create standards and practices for IT for the entire agency. This includes selection and purchasing, appropriate application technical configuration, and administration and support of technology.
In collaboration with the Information Services Leadership Team, helps determine the capital and operational budgets for the department taking into account required maintenance, improvements and expansions. Monitors costs and manages to budget.
Coordinates with senior management, project managers, and end users in the analysis, selection, planning, implementation, and support of new systems. Documents requirements prior to system selection. Reviews potential impacts and interfaces with other internal systems.
Leads the IT staff in acquiring, implementing, operating and maintaining network systems, equipment, software, and other technologies.
Utilizes and promotes project management skills in relation to all Information Services projects.
Determines the appropriate use of consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products.
Effectively leads and manages IT staff by communicating clear expectations and work plans, holding staff accountable and coaching for success.
Creates IT performance metrics and the management systems to ensure correct objectives are set and met.
Acts as a champion of customer service and continually assesses performance while working to improve Information Services customer service.
Helps execute the enterprise-wide IT disaster recovery and business continuity plan in partnership with the Information Services Leadership Team, department leaders and application support.
Helps define, manage, and execute the IT security program in partnership with the CIO, external vendors and internal stakeholders.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises IT staff.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems or a related field
Experience:
7 years experience in a technology position.
5 years technology management experience required.
License:
Washington State Driver’s License
Requires reliable transportation and appropriate insurance to travel and work at various agency clinic locations.
Certification:
Technical certification preferred and we will consider a variety of certifications in the categories of networking, server, storage, virtualization, Microsoft including Office 365, AWS and security.
Project management certifications such as PMP and CSM preferred.
