Job Description

As our Director of Housekeeping, you will be responsible for driving the exceptional performance of all aspects of the Housekeeping Department, including Laundry and the Uniform Room.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinates preventative maintenance programs with the Director of Engineering.
  • Lead the Housekeeping team in providing exceptional guest service and cleanliness while driving colleague satisfaction.
  • Ensure the necessary resources, tools, and equipment are readily available.
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of Fairmont and industry standards of service and cleanliness.
  • Contributor in developing the hotel wide strategic goals and plans.
  • Ensure effective staff planning, selection, training and development strategies are in place.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Housekeeping responsibilities in all hotel renovation projects.
  • Execute monthly financial obligations from forecast and budget for Housekeeping; ensuring expenses and productivity are on target.
  • Prepare and execute departmental and divisional capital plans.
  • Develop and maintain close and effective working relationship with all supporting departments.
  • Immediately address all guest comments or concerns.
  • Work with Director of Operations to prepare the annual Housekeeping budget.
  • Stay current with industry trends, implementing enhancements to product and service.
  • Develop departmental goals and measurements resulting in a balanced score card of guest, colleague, owner and brand.
  • Responsible for carrying out other management duties as requested by Executive team.
  • Oversees the retrieval of all lost and found items consistent with company policy.
  • Provide ongoing professional development, growth, and job satisfaction of all leaders and colleagues in Housekeeping.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times and that all colleagues are committed to working safely.
  • Plan, organize and implement all deep cleaning & projects for guest suites, villas, and public areas.

Qualifications

  • Hotel Management degree an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of talent from diverse backgrounds
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft programs (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and a high level competency with administrative duties
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred (preferably minimum of 2 years experience)
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to teach, train and grow team to follow
  • Ability to create a community which supports a collaborative environment focusing on colleague needs to build strong relationships
