Director Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Revenue Recognition ~Remote

Our client, a privately held medical device start-up company on-track to launch their new MedTech System this Fall (2023) has an exciting new opening!

The Director FP&A and Accounting will lead financial planning and analysis function (FP&A) and support accounting function with key focus on revenue recognition.

** REMOTE however occasional time in-office will be required - 1 or 2x per month in Irvine, CA

Revenue Recognition Responsibilities:

• Lead Phase 2 implementation of NetSuite focused on implementation of Field Service module (phase 2a) and revenue / COGS recognition (Phase 2b).
• Work collaboratively with outside advisors to interpret the impact which the Company’s sales contract structure(s) will have on revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with ASC 606

Financial Planning & Analysis Responsibilities:

• Provide budgets annually and financial forecasts quarterly
• Provide monthly variance analyses with thoughtful consideration of permanent versus timing differences; focus on minimizing forecast variances
• Lead short-term and long-term financial forecasting in coordination with the CFO and Company’s leadership team
• Develop strong understanding of the business necessary to insightfully perform role requirements and work effectively cross functionally
• Work collaboratively with department leaders especially in the sales & marketing, and engineering & operations functions

Accounting and Controls:

• Assist as needed in financial statement audits
• Work collaboratively with the Senior Manager, Accounting
• Assist as needed in monthly financial statement close

Supervision:

• Position will supervise one (1) direct report which will be added in 2023; additional team expansion anticipated

Director FP&A and Accounting Requirements:

• Experience building a team highly desired
• Requires working knowledge of GAAP and strong understanding of revenue recognition principles
• FP&A experience in MedTech or Medical Device required - Capital Equipment products with high regulation - also considered
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Work experience involved in a new project launch a significant plus
• Strong knowledge of Excel, and understanding of Word and Power Point applications
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
• Broad financial experience including both FP&A and Accounting required
• Requires at least 10-years work experience with increasing responsibility in a mix of FP&A and Accounting roles
• MBA or CPA required
• Knowledge of NetSuite a significant plus
