Role Description
The Director of Finance will (i) be responsible for the overall financial management of the Resort including Club Management, HOA and Real Estate Venture, and (ii) work closely with Executive Management, Department Leaders, and the Management and Ownership Groups to ensure the Resort's financial success. The position will report directly to the Brasada Managing Director and will direct the work of the entire Brasada Accounting Team, including the HOA Controller.
General Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Continuously monitor economic, social, and governmental trends, policies, and ordinances to ensure that management and ownership are kept fully apprised of any implications that may affect the performance of the hotel in meeting its financial objectives.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies and plans to support the Resort's overall goals and objectives.
  • Ensure successful treasury cash management in compliance with the company's policy.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports ensuring the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and the company's financial reporting standards.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors and providing needed information for periodic internal and external audits.
  • Coach and lead department heads regarding financial responsibility and best practices to ensure success in their roles and for the Resort.
  • Present recommendations to the Managing Director, general managers and department heads on short and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; ensure accurate sales, use, and occupancy tax returns and all other local and state tax filings as required.
  • Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Uphold the Resort's values of caring and respect in every interaction.
  • Prepare business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets timely as required.
  • Continually looking for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and hotel through the leveraging of technology.
  • Ability to communicate in detail in all required meetings.
  • Oversee the Resort's accounting and finance team including hiring, training, and mentoring.
  • Oversee the Resort's accounting and financial systems including accounts payable, accounts receivable, labor management and payroll.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for revenue enhancement, cost savings, and cost controls.
Skills/Traits
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Two plus years Director of Finance level hotel experience required.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Experience with Homeowner Associations (HOA) and real estate development is preferred.
