Job Description
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is seeking a qualified & experienced candidate to fulfill a full time, exempt, Director of Education and Community Engagement based in ME, VT or NH. The Director of Education and Community Engagement leads the 501c3 programs for PPNNE’s Education and Public Affairs departments across the affiliate’s three states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We are seeking an energetic, self-directed individual with demonstrated program management and leadership experience. In consultation with state Vice Presidents of Public Affairs as well as the Senior Education Program Manager, this position will lead a team that will establish best practices and provide support to affiliate outreach, organizing, and education work. Successful candidates will have demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to engage others through thoughtful, measurable programs, a willingness to think creatively about how to engage volunteers for ongoing internal and external programs, experience with data analysis, and effectively managing a team of Community Engagement Coordinators.


CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Research and integrate, or create systems to ensure the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all Education and Public affairs outreach programs, both internally and externally facing.
  • Develop and standardize onboarding and ongoing training for all Community Engagement Coordinators that track and maintain ongoing skill development to ensure best practices.
  • Support metrics and data collection for grant deliverables and reporting.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork; understand that staffing needs and schedules fluctuate which will require a flexible work schedule and/or additional work hours; be willing to listen and contribute to department, site, and agency discussions and decision-making; incorporate customer satisfaction into all aspects of operation.
  • Support state public affairs teams to Develop and standardize recruitment and training of volunteers, and track and maintain ongoing skill development to ensure best practices across the 3 states.
  • Develop measures of success for the education, 501c3 organizing and outreach plan and provide regular progress and outcome reports to VP’s of Public Affairs and report on progress toward goals.
  • Develop affiliate-wide strategies to establish and deepen strategic partnerships with an emphasis on health equity in communities historically underrepresented in the reproductive and sexual health movement.
  • Researching and adopting as appropriate, national resources, standards, and systems to help identify and implement innovative best practices for effective, high impact, affiliate-wide outreach, organizing, and education programs and special projects.
  • Responsible for planning and overseeing the execution of the program work plan through effective project management in alignment with PPNNE’s goals.
  • Support and assist with 501c4 electoral work as needed and as directed by the VP’s of Public Affairs.
  • Work with the Senior Education Program Manager to implement affiliate-wide trainings and ensure best education practices are utilized by staff including Community Engagement Coordinators.
  • Support communications and marketing staff in media outreach to highlight the services of PPNNE and the work of our 501c3 programs.
  • Other duties as needed or directed by the VP’s of Public Affairs
  • Create, direct, and centralize a 3-state PPNNE/501c3 workplan for education, organizing, and outreach programs that innovate and utilize current programs and systems which include: the health center advocacy program, speaker’s bureau, voter registration and/or healthy democracy initiatives, community outreach and education of PPNNE and its services, campus work, sex education, community advisory boards, strategic partnerships in the communities we serve, and more.
  • Work cross departmentally to support the promotion of PPNNE and its services.
  • Identify opportunities and foster relationships to expand and enhance community partnerships and effective coalition building to educate and activate the general public about Planned Parenthood health services and volunteer opportunities.
  • Lead planning and execution of special events, including professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise and assist Community Engagement Coordinators in all aspects of 501c3 work and provide leadership and support to staff engaged in 501c3 programmatic work across the 3 states.
  • Work with Advocacy Director to help identify target areas and emerging data trends for outreach and 501 c3 organizing purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Solid project management skills.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to promote comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive freedom for all people.
  • Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience including leadership roles.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint required.
  • Must reside in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize, and work under deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Comfortable talking about all services PPNNE provides.
  • Must be passionate about reproductive rights and other intersectional issues.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Candidate should have management experience.
  • Self-motivation and an ability to successfully work independently, as part of a team, and as a team leader.
  • Candidates must have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work.
  • Candidate should be able to create work plans including budget development.
  • Team player and ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to adapt successfully to changing situations & environments.
  • Proficiency with VAN preferred.
  • Some travel will be required; access to a vehicle required.
  • Inquisitive, curious, and a willingness to learn about PPNNE’s role in health care and politics.
  • Candidate must have solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and be able to facilitate teamwork across distances/remotely and in person.
  • Ability to inspire team mates to achieve goals and overcome challenges.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS


  • The range of pay for this position is $61,386 to $89,427/yr, depending on experience. Access to benefits are available such as health, dental, vision, paid time off as well as a retirement fund
