Tri Pointe Homes Raleigh is looking for an innovative and energetic individual to join our talented group as a Director of Construction.


Position Highlights: Director of Construction will lead all aspects of the division’s construction. Acts as a strategic partner to VP of Operations for the execution of goals and initiatives related to construction and quality.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with land team to identify future investment opportunities
  • Communicate effectively at all levels through verbal and written means
  • Develops implements and monitors processes to meet the Company’s high standards for quality construction, customer satisfaction, and achieving customer touchpoint objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Establish effective cost control measures
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure open communication on all matters; develop a strong environment conducive to proactive resolutions of issues and a strong commitment to producing a quality result
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to the construction team regarding warranty issues, scheduling, trade partner supervision, quality control, and company policies
  • Ensure the punch list and warranty items are completed on time and approved by the customer
  • Maintain records of all change orders and/or purchase orders in a community
  • Inspect each home under construction ensuring that the work is done to specifications
  • Oversee the plan and schedule of all construction activities on homes from start to finish
  • Responsible for field operations and processes for home construction and customer care.
  • Be a respected, high integrity role model for the local and professional communities
  • Implements construction science improvements in products and installation methods to reduce costs and defects and improve quality and customer satisfaction. Ensures compliance with standardized scopes of work.
  • Responsible for all job site compliance programs including training on and implementation of scopes of work, meeting building codes, complying with environmental laws, SWPPP, OSHA, and other regulations.
  • Ensure that financial and operational goals are established and achieved
  • Frequently inspects homes for quality compliance
  • Ensure timely home completion and deliveries
  • Provide trade partner feedback to the VP of Operations concerning the trade partner’s timeliness and attention to detail
  • Develops positive teamwork, and achievement-oriented work culture for staff in all operations-related departments
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and manage individuals and teams to ensure top performance of all team members in achieving desired results while finding efficient and effective solutions that create overall organizational value.
  • Handle escalated customer situations through phone calls, home visits, and correspondence as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and corporate staff as needed
  • Responsible for division’s Profit & Loss Statements. Maximize profits through establishing a business plan, achieving forecasts, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Maintain customer and trade partner relations
  • Oversees all procedures necessary to maintain safe worksites. Ensures compliance by all employees, vendors, and others who access construction sites and directs investigations and corrective actions for safety lapses.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to efficiently construct high-quality homes and improvements.
  • Oversee the schedule and supervise daily trade partner activities per job schedules and business partner scopes of work

Position Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly organized, highly motivated, and able to get things done quickly and accurately.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
  • Strong leadership/people management skills to be able to hire, coach, and retain both managers and non-managers.
  • Valid Auto Insurance Coverage
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Minimum 10 years experience in project/construction management in residential construction, or other related fields required.
  • Experience working with Buildpro software required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and document management
  • This position primarily involves field work with occasional office responsibilities
  • Minimum 8 years experience in directing and supervising construction staff
