Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities

  • The Director of Accounting is responsible for management of the general ledger, year-end audit preparation, payroll processing, and other financial analysis. This position will lead the month end close process to ensure the monthly close is handled in a timely fashion. The Director of Accounting reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will interface with the organization’s Board of Directors, Executive Director, and senior staff which requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Responsible for accounts receivable and reconcile revenue accounts monthly.
  • Conduct an annual fixed asset inventory.
  • Prepare financial analysis when needed.
  • Oversee and Execute Audit Prep and schedules for Audit.
  • Responsible for accurate paid time off representation.
  • Review documentation of significant processes to ensure compliance.
  • Update banking signer’s info when change occurs.
  • Assist in the annual budget process.
  • Track and report on the profitability of fundraising events.
  • Responsible for W2s and 1099 filings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with various governmental agencies.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and deposits.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Responsible for reconciling various giving portals.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Obtain and maintain thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly close.
  • Manage and direct the accounting clerks.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • 5 to 7 year of accounting/finance experience, non-profit experience preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • BA/BS in Business with an Accounting, Finance or Economics emphasis, CPA preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in budget forecasting and analyzing financial statements
